Blood Mountain shelter

(Steve) Lest anyone thinks AT hiking is a lonely trek, check out the picture of the Hawk Mountain shelter. Note the mean dog in front!

hello! a friend of mine and myself met Ellie today on the trail on Tray Mountain. It was snowing and we were playing guitar and writing music ... she must have thought we were crazy. Anyway, she invited us to have some hot tea with her and sign her walking stick. Had a great time and she seems like an awesome lady.

You should be getting a picture of us soon that she wanted posted.

Wow, more people there than I see on a day to day basis, that's for sure!

The AT is a very social hike, with most of the interaction happening in the shelters. Loose groups move along, sharing town stops and accommodations.
Thru-hiker bonds are as tight as military ones and are formed by shared overcoming of obstacles.
