Yes, we roasted a few chestnuts in our fireplace for several years, but to tell the truth, they are better purchased in a small paper bag from a street vendor.
My mom-in-law roasted some on her stovetop, but I bet they're better over an open fire - isn't anything? I don't think they tasted amazing enough to try roasting myself.
I'd much rather roast marshmallows or meat, if we're talking about open fires.
