Yes, some plant/tree roots can be very pervasive. Unfortunately, we had to cut down a nice palm tree we had in our screened pool enclosure because its roots were growing through the cement retaining wall!
Didn't it just make you want to replant it--it worked SO HARD to get through, and then it got plucked.
